Youths salvage a point against Shels
GREG YIVERTON's goal one minute into additional time saw Wexford Youths mix the bad with the good as they salvaged a point from a dominant Shelboure F.C. side in this Airtricity Division 1 clash at Ferrycarrig Park on Sunday afternoon last. While Wexford Youths will be very happy to have snatched a point, they will be none too pleased with their display which, after a promising opening 45 minutes, deteriorated to such an extent that Shels must still be wondering why they failed to add to their first-half tally given their dominance through the second period.
Ross Celtic favourites to lift Premier crown again
IN THE unlikely event that New Ross Celtic will fail to close out their fifth title in a row, the most reasonable minds will look towards North End United to lift the title, when the Wexford Football League campaign gets under way on Sunday next.

ALL WEXFORD clubs are invited to send three or four players to trials for this year's Under-12 county team (players born on or after 1/1/1998) which will take place in the following locations:
Last-gasp draw felt almost as good as a win
SOMETIMES YOU wake up and feel a positive notion lurking in the subconscious which you can't identify. And then, oh yes, Sunday's game, a 92nd minute equaliser against Shelbourne.

Football fails to bring relief
A TOUGH weekend on the football side of things. After a week when I could have written a book about the goings on in my other life, which probably passes as business, I looked forward to the relief that football often brings, though I'm not sure if 'relief' is the right word at all times.
Youths lose in Cork
WEXFORD YOUTHS remain firmly in the middle of the Airtricity Division 1 table after they went down to a single goal defeat to Cork City at Turners Cross on Friday night last. Having lost out to Longford Town seven days earlier, Wexford Youths have hit a losing patch after a promising run, at a crucial stage of the campaign, seeing their chance of moving into a top four position come to a stuttering halt.
Wexford boys lift the cup
WEXFORD WERE celebrating at the weekend after lifting the U-15 Umbro Galway Cup at Salthill Devon's Drom Soccer Park. The Slaneysiders put on a brilliant display of attacking football, scoring a remarkable 20 goals in five matches, and were equally as impressive at the back, conceding none. Their achievement is all the more noteworthy when you consider that this is the county Under-14 team and they were up against players a year older. Manager Tommy Byrne has enjoyed tremendous success with this talented squad of players over the past three years.

THE WEXFORD Schoolboys Under-15 squad competed in the Umbro Cup in Galway last week in the Under-17 boys' tournament.
