Wexford top group

THE LONG trip to Vickerstown in Meath was well worthwhile for the Wexford Class 5 'A' squad as they topped their group to qualify for the Leinster finals on March 14.
The 'A' side began with an impressive 5-2 success against Westmeath's first team. It left Wexford in the happy position of just needing to overcome Meath 'B' in their final game to qualify.
It was close, but Wexford progressed thanks to a 4-3 victory. Wexford's successes came in the men's doubles where Paudie Foran and Tony Sinnott won 21-18, 21-19, while Deirdre O'Connor and Carol Murphy took the ladies' doubles in straight sets. There was mixed doubles success for Tony Sinnott/Helen Butler and Paudie Foran/Deirdre O'Connor.
