Serious action in store

Spectacular action is guaranteed in Courtown.
THIS SATURDAY and Sunday will see Ireland's oldest motorcycle grasstrack race return to its spiritual home of Courtown, Co. Wexford. The Wexford Off-Road Club will host round five of the Motorcycling Ireland Grasstrack championship sponsored by Great Stuff Catering at the north Wexford seaside venue. Action on Saturday will start at 4 p.m. with a series of races for adults and youths on both quads and bikes.
The serious action of the weekend will start on Sunday at 12 noon when the championship action kicks off. Expect to see a titanic struggle between Ciarán Dowling and Meryn Griffin in the Pro-class, as there has been very little to choose between these two riders throughout the championship.
Don't rule out a strong challenge from Shane McGuiness who is no stranger to the rolling hills of the Courtown track.
The Clubman MX2 class also sees a very tight championship tussle between Gavin Quigley and Richard Hughes, with the smallest of margins separating these two riders in the championship stands.
Glen Meade is well capable of mixing with the table-toppers.
The 125cc Youth class provides us with two riders locked together at the top of the table, Emmett Feenan and Patrick Cox.
The Courtown course will suit both of these speed merchants and it'll be down to determination and the correct bike set-up to separate them.
Traditionally Courtown has always drawn the largest entry of rider, with both its uniquely fast course and enjoyable social weekend.
The Wexford Off-Road Club will provide a festival of speed with over 50 races over the weekend.
The action will start at 4 p.m. Saturday and 12 noon Sunday, and everyone is welcome.
