Ryan makes a splash
BACK IN October, Ryan Shannon competed in the Leinster Schools swimming championships. He represented Ramsgrange Community School in the 100m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley.
Greyhound racing resumes
RACING RESUMED after the Winter break at Enniscorthy on Thursday night and a good card featuring sweepstakes over several distances was well attended.
Powerful event
SOME OF Wexford's finest powerlifters will be in action this Saturday in the Naomh Eanna G.A.A. complex in Gorey. They will be competing in the I.D.F.P.A. Single Lift championships in both the equipped and unequipped sections, and it promises to be a tremendous event for fans of the sport.
Byrne runner-up in Winter Festival
THE 24th Winter Shore Angling Festival was held on the east-facing beaches of Co. Wexford over three days, from Thursday to Saturday last. Organised by EFSA Ireland, this event annually attracts the cream of sea match anglers from both the U.K. and Ireland, and with many thousands of euro in prize money up for grabs divided between individual, team, zone and optional pools, competition is keen.
Woodsmen make plans for year ahead
THE WOODSMEN Horseshoe Club held their A.G.M. in Sinnott's of Bunclody recently. The Chairman, Liam Bond, opened the meeting by thanking everyone including the sponsors and Paddy Kavanagh for the use of the field.
Buggy lands Leinster title to get his season on track
GAVIN BUGGY captured the Leinster Senior singles 40 x 20 championship last weekend in St. Joseph's as he won three tough games all in tiebreakers. The Leinster Senior championship is a separate tournament to the All-Ireland singles, but still it is a great start to the season for Buggy who was struggling with his early-season form up to last weekend.
