Serious action in store
THIS SATURDAY and Sunday will see Ireland's oldest motorcycle grasstrack race return to its spiritual home of Courtown, Co. Wexford. The Wexford Off-Road Club will host round five of the Motorcycling Ireland Grasstrack championship sponsored by Great Stuff Catering at the north Wexford seaside venue. Action on Saturday will start at 4 p.m. with a series of races for adults and youths on both quads and bikes.
Model reps. seek combined events success in Navan
BEST OF luck to all Wexford athletes who will be competing in the Leinster combined events championships this coming weekend. This multi-events competitions for Juveniles, Seniors and Masters will take place in Claremont Stadium, Navan, Co. Meath, on Sunday next.

Rain fails to dampen the spirits
THE RAIN tried to dampen things but a good crowd enjoyed some good racing featuring the remaining heats of the Reggie and Phil Turner Memorial Leger, races three to eight.

ENNISCORTHY RUGBY: Enniscorthy 40, Rathdrum 5: Enniscorthy with something of a new-look side easily accounted for home team Rathdrum to win the deferred South East League final of 2010 on Saturday last. This final is normally played in January, but the harsh weather at the start of this year meant that it could not take place.
'Compass Bernie' on song
THERE WAS a great turn-out on Monday of last week for the Shelmaliers G.A.A. club night, and the feature event, the final of the Christy Doyle Memorial A2/A3 with €2,500 euro to the winner, produced a really good race.
Lazo wins men's classic
WEXFORD HARBOUR Boat and Tennis Club (WHBTC) hosted the annual Senior open tennis tournament on the August weekend. With over 230 players playing in 300 events, tournament referee Bernie Morrissey declared the weekend a great success.
Gráinne makes waves in Seniors
IN WHAT is regarded as a remarkable feat, swimming supremo Gráinne Murphy (above) bridged a sizeable gap between an outstanding Junior and a top Senior after her fantastic performance at the European long course championships in Budapest on Monday.
Colin wins gold in combined events with fine displays
BEST OF luck to all Wexford athletes who will take part in the final round of the A.A.I. national track and field league this coming Saturday (August 14) in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The Athletics Wexford ladies' team is competing very well and is currently in fourth place in Division 1 of the league after the first two rounds.
Paddy Owens Cup on Saturday next
AN OPEN doubles tournament took place at the Tinahely Show, run by The Gap Horseshoe Club. Twenty players took part which was a good turn-out.
