Fatboyz chalk up super treble

Wednesday February 24 2010

THE WEATHER did it again on Thursday night last as the card was called off due to frost. It is hoped the card will be run this Thursday night.

Co. Wexford owners had great success at other tracks in the past week, and the great run of Enniscorthy trainer Pat Gordon continued on Saturday night last at Shelbourne Park, recording a super treble for the Fatzboz syndicate.

The feature race was the Joe Dunne Memorial with a €6,000 prize, and 'Fatboyz Tyson' took command fron traps to go on and score by one and a half lengths in 28.98 on a slow track.

'Fatboyz Nodrog' was next up and again the race was as good as over from traps as 'Nodrog' blasted out to score an easy 28.74 victory in the Dave Mentor Open.

'Fatboyz Georgie' had earlier taken a heat of the Swords Prince A1 Stake in 29.28 on another memorable night for Pat Gordon, crowning a job very well done.

There was more success at Shelbourne during the week as the Anton and Tony Butler-owned 'Clover Fantasy' scored a fine win in an open race on Thursday night last, and the Vincent Morris-owned 'Bing Trade' also scored a nice win.

Trainer Nick Turner also got on the scoring sheet when 'Tulla Spark' led all the way to take heat four of the Swords Prince Stake.

Owner John Doyle of Kiltrea has been going along nicely and he enjoyed another final win when his 'Kitrae Kev' put in a superb performance when skating in by six lengths in the Tote Intertrack Novice 730 final in a fast 40.44 at Waterford on Saturday night last.

Back to Enniscorthy, and Mondays week's card was run. 'Fatboyz Tedbundy' came in as reserve in race seven and yes, you guessed it, he duly won but only just, as 'Bullring Baily' was getting there with every stride but 'Fatboyz' held on by a short head in 29.16.

'Kingsmill Fox' was trying for a hat-trick in race three and, after taking a knock when leaving traps, she scored an impressive five lengths 29.25 victory.

Another to record 29.25 was the Michael Delahunty-trained 'Make Haste' who was just beaten by the latter in her last race, and she dug deep up the home straight to beat 'Coolrue Princess' by one and a half lengths in the sixth race.
