There was a terrific turn-out of ladies in all competitions last week, and it was nice to see our seasonal visitors back in their houses and out on our fairways again. What with the overcast weather and recent spell of rain, fairways and greens are now looking as splendid as ever thanks to Kevin and his team.
The open singles sponsored by PGA pro. Glen, with seven visiting clubs participating, was won by Catríona, no stranger to the podium, with 40 points, strongly contested by Leslie with 37 points and Aine with 36 points. Saturday proved to be a very wild, windy day, making conditions for loyal sponsors Kiely's Centra Killinick day very difficult. However, this didn't deter the winner, Leonie Furlong, from bringing in an excellent score.
Congratulations to the Juniors foursomes team, and manager Bernie Furlong on reaching the semifinals of the Midland District, and best of luck in New Ross on August 14.
