There was frustration for the Minors at home onWednesday night when they were pipped by Duffry Rovers (3-6 to 2-8) after missing a hatful of good chances. Welcome back to Stephen Kinsella who has filled the vacancy on the backroom team created by David Gannon who has embarked on his travels.
In keeping with policy, priority was given to players who have been training regularly when it came to picking the team. Good performances came from Seán Pailing, Aaron Lacey, Adam Roche, Killian Halligan, Con Ó Donnagáin and Rhys Clarke.
Jason O'Connor; Adam Roche, Ian O'Leary, Ryan Walsh; Killian Halligan, Dean Murphy, Con Ó Donnagáin; Seán Pailing (13), Jason O'Dowd; Aaron Lacey (1-1), Ryan Nolan (0-3), John Clancy (0-1); Ciarán Byrne, Dean Walsh, Peter Furlong. Seán Ó Ríain, Colm Ó Corcora, Tomás Campbell and Eoin Healy were all unavailable.
The Junior 'D' team will take on Kilmore away on Friday night in a crucial game. A win would secure a District semi-final spot as the second team in the group behind St. Mary's (Maudlintown). A draw would put them in a play-off with St. Joseph's, and a loss would end their interest in the campaign.
Well done to the Under-10 players who made a bright start to the Kent Stainless league with a big win over St. Martin's on Wednesday last, and best of luck to them in the second round at home to Blackwater tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m.
The Under-14s are away to Ballinastragh Gaels in Division 2 on Thursday at 7.30 p.m., while the Under-12s are away to St. Anne's in Division 1 South of the Go Games on Tuesday next at 7.30 p.m.
Training times: Under-12 boys, Tuesday, 6.30 to 7.30 p.m.; Under-6, Under-8 and Under-10 boys, Wednesday, 6.15 to 7.15 p.m.; girls' teams, Wednesday, 6.15 to 7.15 p.m.

KILMORE
Kilmore G.A.A. club will host the Larry Furlong Perpetual Cup tournament on Sunday next, July 18, in Kilmore. The first game gets under way at 6 p.m. with St. Fintan's playing Volunteers, and at 7.30 p.m. Kilmore play St. Anne's.
The cup was donated to Kilmore G.A.A. club by the Furlong family. Larry Furlong served 19 years as club Secretary. He also played for St. Anne's and won five Senior football medals in a row with St. John's Volunteers. It's fitting that this cup is being played for in Kilmore where he served the club so well.
What a dream, what a day is the only way to describe our Under-8s' visit to Croke Park on Monday last. It was a day to remember, said mentors Patrick Sinnott and Johnny Berry, for the young footballers of Kilmore. This was also echoed by the parents who travelled to see their young sons play on the hallowed turf of Croke Park.
Ten young players played their hearts out to win by 5-7 to nil against Carlow. The bus left at 9 a.m. and those who could not play in Croke Park visited Cuala on the way up and played their games. It was then on to Croke Park where Kilmore shared the dressing-room occupied by Kilkenny the day before on Leinster hurling final day - perhaps a good omen.
This day will be remembered by the young boys of Kilmore for the rest of their lives and by Kilmore G.A.A. club for whom we say congradulations and well done to all concerned.
On Sunday, August 1, at 8.30 p.m. to 2.30 a.m., the barbeque and barn dance will take place in Fortune's, Ballyhealy. We will be asking everyone in the club to row in and give a big hand for the night. Tickets are on sale at ¤20. A great night is expected.
The annual Cúl camps take place in Kilmore from July 12 to 16. For more details contact Stephen Connolly (086-3452832).
Kilmore G.A.A. club are hosting a summer hurling and camogie camp from July 26 to 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost per day is ¤3 or ¤6 for a family, and all are welcome.
Our Under-8s play St. Anne's in the Jack Berry tournament on Thursday night in Kilmore, while our Junior 'B' footballers play Sarsfields in the championship in Kilmore at 7.30 p.m. on Friday Hard luck to our Under-21 hurlers who were beaten by four points after extra-time by Crossabeg-Ballymurn.
ST. MARY'S (M'TOWN)
It was goals galore in our Under-10 game in Rathangan last week, but unfortunately we lost the game to a very strong St. Anne's team on a scoreline of 10-11 to 7-5. This was our first game in this competition and as it progresses the lads will get better and better with each game.
The Minor team had a great victory over Craanford/Askamore in the championship in Páirc Charman last week by 4-16 to 1-6. If the lads put in the same effort for the rest of the year they have a great chance of going far in the championship.
The Intermediate team drew with the Sarsfields in the District league on Tuesday last and, if we get a win in our last game against St. Joseph's this week, it should be enough to get us to the final.
Tickets are on sale for our monthly draw and are available from any player or committee member. All proceeds are going to the Rocks Development Fund.
CLONARD
Under-age training times are as follows this week: Under-6, Wednesday, 6-7; Under8, Monday and Wednesday, 7-8 p.m.; Under-10, Wednesday and Friday, 6-7 p.m.; Under-12 and Under-14, Tuesday and Thursday, 6.30-8 p.m.; Under-16 hurling training, Tuesday, 6.30-8 p.m., and Under12, -14 and -16 hurling training, Sunday morning 11-12.30 p.m.
A special mention this week must go to both Tony Hennessy and Dylan Carty on their recent exploits with their respective Wexford teams in hurling and football. Both continue to excel for club and county and long may it continue. Keep up the good work lads.
It was a very good week on the field of play for our hurlers and footballers. On Tuesday evening last week, our Junior footballers defeated Glynn-Barntown in the semi final of the league. In miserable conditions the lads put in a great effort to win on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-3.
The victory means we are through to the final of the league and are due to face Castletown this weekend. The fixture had not been confirmed by the time of going to press so please see the fixtures section for details. We encourage all club members to come along and offer their support as the team go in search of some silverware.
Our hurlers also had an excellent victory on Friday last when they defeated near neighbours Faythe Harriers in Coolcotts in a must-win championship encounter. Our lads knew that a win in this the last group game of the championship would put us into the District semi-final or at the very least a play-off.
Once again, the game was played in wintery conditions and, having played with the aid of a strong breeze, we led by 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time. A strong second-half performance was required and it was exactly what was delivered, and a 2-11 to 2-6 win was secured. It was a magnificent team effort in particular in the second-half and a welldeserved victory for all concerned.
With two games left, our Junior 'B' footballers are also still in with a good chance of progressing after a hard-fought victory in Crossabeg the week before last. The Clonard boys held on well at the end to beat the home team by 3-17 to 3-15 in a pulsating game of football.
There were big performances in defence from John Cleary and Colm Browne, good running and vital scores from the excellent midfield partnership of Adam Beary and Declan Downes, and fine displays up front from Derek Murphy and Dylan Carty. Lenny Doyle and Darren Dempsey also contributed vital scores to the cause.
With our hurlers and both our football teams still in contention for league and championship honours, all club members and supporters are asked to keep an eye on the fixtures section of the paper over the coming weeks for details on upcoming games, and are asked to make an effort to offer their support wherever and whenever possible.
We would also like to offer our congratulations this week to our clubmate, Joseph Sheehan, who was part of the Lancashire team who won the British Junior football final at the weekend. Joseph played in goal and put in a tremendous display to help his side defeat London. Lancashire now progress to face Kerry in the All-Ireland Junior semi-final in August and we wish Joseph all the best for this encounter also.
The Clonard girls only had one game last week. The Under-16 girls were out against the Shels at home on Wednesday evening last. This was another tough game for the girls but they put up a great fight until the final whistle.
Again Clonard's Rebecca Foley (2-0) sent in the first score of the game after a great pass from Leanne Brennan. This was a very exciting game and both teams played with great skill. However, the Shels were the fittest. The backs on both teams played brilliantly which showed in the final score of Shels 2-3, Clonard 2-0.
The Under-14 'B' team will play away to Cushinstown on Wednesday. All girls please meet at Clonard Church at 6.15 p.m. Parents are asked to provide lifts. Good luck girls.
There is no training for the Under-12 team due to the away game. Attendance at training has declined in recent weeks due to holidays etc., and we would ask that an extra effort be put into training from now on please.
Congratulations to Aoife Tormey and the county Minor team who won the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday against Armagh. Aoife played corner-forward, midfield and in the backs for this game. This shows how versatile she is as she can play in any position asked of her. Well done Aoife.
The final will be against Tipperary in two weeks' time, and the venue is to be announced. We would encourage plenty of support for Aoife and her team-mates.
CROSSABEG-BALLYMURN
There was no winner of last week's lotto jackpot and one match three winner, Joe Murphy, Ballinkeele. The numbers drawn were 3, 11, 22 and 29. This week's jackpot is ¤8,000. Lotto multi draw tickets are available from any committee member.
Well done to the Under-21 hurlers who beat Kilmore in the championship last week, winning by 2-17 to 2-14 after extratime. The Minor footballers beat New Ross last week.
The Minor hurlers' match against Duffry Rovers was postponed on Sunday. They play Carrig Rua Gaels away (in Monamolin) this evening (Wednesday) at 7.30 p.m.
The Under-16 hurlers play away to the Shamrocks on Monday, July 19, at 7.30 p.m. The Under-14 footballers play away to Craanford on Thursday, July 15, at 7.30 p.m. The Under-12 hurlers beat Adamstown on Tuesday last. The Under-12 footballers play away to Adamstown on Tuesday, July 20, at 7.30 p.m. The Under-10 hurlers beat St. Martin's last week.
The beginners, Under-8s and Under-10s train on Tuesdays at 6.30 p.m. in the pitch, with new players welcome.
BANNOW-BALLYMITTY
Bingo this week will be ¤525 and it takes place in Carrig Hall on Saturday evenings.
Congratulations to the Under-14 camogie team which won their county final on a horrible winter's evening in Taghmon on Tuesday last. Their opponents were a fiesty Fethard team. This game could have gone either way as both teams were of the same size and fitness. The final score was Bannow-Ballymitty 0-2, Fethard 0-1. Sincere thanks to Davy for the training, Eileen for the communication and grub, and Sadie and Breda.
The Junior 'D' hurlers had a good win over Cushinstown on the same evening.
Congrats to the Wexford footballers on their one-point win over Galway. Ben came on in the second-half. The next game is at home versus Cork. Please check times and venues in the sports section. Best of luck to Ben and Niall.
This Sunday all roads will lead to Grantstown for the annual field day. All the usual stalls will be there. All donations will be greatly appreciated for the bottle stall, cake stall etc. There will also be a clothes collection, so anyone wanting to get rid of unwanted clothes, curtains, duvets, pillows, cushions, bags and shoes, please place them into black bags and drop them over to the pitch on either Saturday or Sunday mornings.
This will be a small fundraiser for the club. Thank you for your co-operation on this. A car boot sale will take place on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. All enquires to Barty and Eileen Walshe (086-6511955).
The monthly club meeting takes place this coming Monday at 9 p.m. in the clubhouse. This meeting is opened to all members who are strongly advised to attend to discuss the running and issues of the club.
The club are collecting tokens from Kelloggs Corn Flakes, Crunchy Nut and Crunchy Nut Feast, in a bid to win a ¤100,000 pitch make-over. Anyone with these tokens can give them to any club officer. Your co-operation would be much appreciated with this as we need 500 tokens. That is a lot of bowls of Corn Flakes. We know a load of families in the parish who are Corn Flaked out!
SHELMALIERS
Shels played the game of their lives to beat the Black and Amber Gaels in Under21 hurling in Ballyroebuck recently. Shels got off to a slow start, whilst the Black and Amber Gaels got a lucky goal from a longrange free in the first few minutes.
In the second-half, Shels played with more confidence, and the scores seemed to come more freely. In the last ten minutes the Shels got an important, well-taken goal from Shane Griffith which put them in the driving seat. Shels then had a good passage of play and this left them 6 points up with five minutes to go.
The home team got a late goal from a 21yard free deep into injury time, but it was too little, too late. Final score: 1-20 to 2-14.
The Shels were well served well by Brian Murphy, Conor Byrne, Noel Mythen, Eoin Doyle (capt.), Benny Barron, Brian Tobin, Joe Kelly and Shane Griffith. Shels meet the Rapparees in the next round, which should be another mouth-watering encounter.
Our Minor football team defeated the combination team of Owenduff on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-12 away recently. The home team started brightly and were ahead until a brilliant goal finish by Jack Murphy and some very accurate free-taking from Craig McCabe put the Shels in front at half-time by 1-6 to 1-5.
The home team again started brightly and went a point up before two great Shels goals by Cian Lambe and Craig McCabe put some daylight between the teams. However, the Owenduff team finished the game strongest and had the lead down to just three points when a great save from Shane Birney earned his team the victory.
The Shels had great performances from Neil Rossiter, A.J. Lehane and Eoin Fitzgerald in defence, Craig McCabe in Midfield and Cian Lambe, Jack Murphy and captain Brian Murphy in attack:
Shels Minor hurlers were without the services of nine of their starting 15 in this back fixture against Rapparees. A valiant effort from the younger members of this team and a huge workrate was not enough to overcome a near full team from the Enniscorthy District. Shels will meet Rathnure this Wednesday in Hollymount at 7.30 p.m.
Keep Bank Holiday Monday, August 2, free for our annual fundraiser at Enniscorthy dog track. This is always a fun night with many attractions, and there will be a courtesy bus travelling on the night.
In conjunction with the night, we are running a buster draw with a prize of ¤1,000. Tickets are available from any club member/player.
Our Under-12 hurlers were away to Ferns on Tuesday night last. The first game was a close affair with Ferns going into an early lead.
A goal from Jack Murphy and points from Kevin Harte kept us in touch. Ferns responded but a goal from Kevin Harte kept us in touch. The Shels boys started the secondhalf strongly with Seamus Ronan, John and Peter Doyle strong in defence.
A goal from Jordan Hunt and points from Shane Pierce, Kevin Harte, Chris Cowman and Stuart Fanning meant our lads ran out winners in the end on a scoreline of 5-7 to 53.
In the second game the Shels boys were too strong for their opponents and went into an early lead courtesy of goals from Nathan Murphy, Dan Campbell and Liam Rockett and points from Michael O'Rourke, James Doyle, Craig Parker, Conor Hearne and Seán Keane.
