NEW ROSS Swimming Club is aiming to move the club forward to improve policy, procedures and standards.
Following the sentencing of the club's former swim coach Ger Doyle, the club says it has put in place a series of policies and protective measures to ensure the security and safety of all members. According to the New Ross Swimming Club chairman Catherine Ronan, the club would now like to move forward in conjunction with New Ross Town Council, who own the pool, and Swim Ireland, the body which runs the sport in Ireland.
'We are relieved that the trial is over and that justice has been done for the victims,' said Catherine.
New Ross Swimming Club's structures ensure that all sessions have two adults present – one coach, one parent. There is a photographic policy in place where no cameras or video cameras are allowed at training or at competitions. All committee members, coaches, subcommittee and child liaison officers have completed a child protection course.
