Murder accused kept in custody

Tuesday January 31 2012

MURDER accused Michael Furlong remains behind bars this week after a High Court judge refused to grant him bail yesterday (Monday). The 35-year-old, with an address at Meadowfields in The Moyne, has made two court appearances in Dublin during the past week.

At Cloverhill District Court last Tuesday, the judge extended the remand in custody for the man accused of killing Paddy Connors at the Carraig Túr apartments in Enniscorthy last April. Furlong was originally remanded to prison when he was brought before Gorey District Court on January 18.

The case was dealt with yesterday after a busy sitting in Cloverhill last week did not get to his application.

The application for Michael Furlong to be allowed his liberty was successfully opposed by the State.
