Months of roadworks up ahead

Wednesday August 25 2010

MOTORISTS in the Enniscorthy district will be driving on smoother main roads by the end of the year - but only after substantial repair work to both the N11 and N30.

Traffic on the N11 between Scarawalsh and Blackstoops has already been subjected to lane closures and diversions for the past couple of weeks but officials say that the work should be done by the end of the week.

Wexford County Council has also obtained permission for temporary speed limits on a section of the N30 to Clonroche and New Ross for work due to start on a new surface for 600 metres in Tomduff and Jamestown in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, talks have been going on between the council and wouldbe contractors about the repairs due to be carried out on the frost stricken N11 south of Enniscorthy between Brownswood and Oylegate. Some improvements to the road were contained in the original programme of works but due to the heavy frost damage last winter the scale of this project had to be revised upwards with work to take at least five weeks.
