Kehoe backs Insolvency Bill
GOVERNMENT chief Whip Paul Kehoe has commended the Personal Insolvency Bill published last week by his fine Gael colleagues Alan Shatter and Michael Noonan.
He described the legislation a key step in solving the country's mortgage debt crisis.
For those struggling under the burden of spiralling mortgage debt, the new Personal Insolvency Arrangements (PIA) contained within the Bill will provide a lifeline,' he commented. The bill also proposes a reform of the existing bankruptcy laws, which Deputy Kehoe described as punitive and out of date.
