Inca helps make it a day to remember

BORO VALLEY veterinary centre found they had a hit on their hands as their open day drew a large attendance to Bree on Saturday.
Traffic jammed the road outside the centre and the parking attendants put in a busy afternoon shift as family parties came to enjoy an afternoon out. Champion race horse Brave Inca was just one of the attractions, sharing the limelight with a cast of fascinating cast of animals that included a giant shire horse, miniature goats and donkeys, exotic lizards and some Burmese lizards. Ferrets, rabbits, pheasant and budgies were also in the line-up.
Members of the crowd brought their own pets, many of which were entered in the novelty dog show that offered a prize for the cutest puppy. And there were plenty of opportunities to quiz vets Ciaran O'Dowd, David Roche, Justin Browne and Simon Fahey on the care and welfare of animals ranging from mighty steeds to handy sized guinea pigs.
The centre opened in summer of last year specialising in the treatment of horses, with a small animal practice added more recently.
Partner Simon Fahey expressed delight afterwards with the turnout for the open day, though star turn Brave Inca spent most of the afternoon with his back turned to his adoring audience.
'The kids had a ball and the parents enjoyed themselves too,' he reported.
