Eircom refused permission for security fencing
PLANNERS have called a halt to a bid by Eircom to improve security at its existing site in Bunclody. The telecommunications company has been refused planning permission for metal palisade fencing.
Officials noted that Eircom already has a 0.9 metre high block wall in place at the site beside Furlong's hardware. The addition of the palisade would increase this to 2.4 metres.
The refusal was prompted by the high profile location beside the N80 approach road to the town. The planners reckoned that the high fencing would have a negative impact on the area.
The pointed out that similar decisions had already been handed down on previous occasions to Eircom's neighbours on the Ryland Road.
