Brown dismayed at threat to school advisers
FIANNA FÁIL'S John Browne has expressed dismay at Government refusal to protect guidance counsellors' posts in secondary schools. The Enniscorthy-based TD said he was reflecting the concerns conveyed to him by Gorey Community School and other schools throughout his constituency.
He was worried that counsellors will find themselves redeployed to teaching examination subjects rather than helping students with career planning, etc.
' The 700 secondary schools around the country will lose qualified guidance counsellors,' he predicted.
