Wexford Community Games wishes to thank most sincerely the staff and management of the hotel for putting their premises at the disposal of the committee and for their help on the night, to those who helped out with correcting papers and marking the scoreboard, and those who acted as stewards. Thanks also to the competitors and their coaches for their cooperation.
A team from Newbawn-Raheen and one from CastlebridgeCrossabeg were neck and neck throughout, with teams from Rathangan and Tintern hot on their heels.
At the end of the ten rounds of ten questions, both Newbawn-Raheen and Castlebridge-Crossabeg tied for first place on 91 points, with Rathangan and Tintern in joint third place on 90 points. Teams from Horeswood and Bannow-Ballymitty were not too far behind either with scores in the mid80s, and there were many other teams scoring 80 points and over.
The two teams who tied for first place had to sit down and answer another round as only one team can go through to the national finals from the county. Lady luck shone on Castlebridge-Crossabeg who won out and were awarded the gold medals, with the gallant side from NewbawnRaheen receiving the silver medals. Bronze medals were awarded to Rathangan and Tintern.
