€12m allocated for road repairs
KEHOE DELIVERS NEWS OF FUNDING

The Department of Transport has confirmed that Wexford's roads are to get €12m in funding for necessary repairs.
REPAIRS to Wexford roads will be funded to the tune of almost €12 million in 2012 by the Department of Transport, it has been confirmed. News of the funding, in line with last year's allocation, was made public by Chief Whip Paul Kehoe who issued a statement welcoming the news.
The biggest slice of the money is the €5.9 million for the 'restoration improvement' grant, with a further €2.15 million under the 'restoration maintenance grant' heading. Three urban councils have been allowed money for improvements – €410,000 for Wexford town, €195,000 for Enniscorthy and €195,000 for New Ross, the so called block grants.
The Department has also given its blessing to a number of specific road improvements – €50,000 for The Duffry in Enniscorthy close to the Bellefield GAA grounds; €50,000 for the badly rutted junction in the centre of Gorey town; €30,000 for Grange Lower in Rathnure; €30,000 for Knockbraden Upper near Gorey; €15,000 for Ballyfane in Carne and €10,000 for Rathfylane in Davidstown/courtnacuddy.
'I'm delighted that the allocations for road maintenance will remain unchanged for the year ahead,' declared Minister of State Paul Kehoe. 'Many people are concerned about the conditions of roads in County Wexford and we have to strive to maintain them despite the difficult financial situation.'
