€12m allocated for road repairs
REPAIRS to Wexford roads will be funded to the tune of almost €12 million in 2012 by the Department of Transport, it has been confirmed. News of the funding, in line with last year's allocation, was made public by Chief Whip Paul Kehoe who issued a statement welcoming the news.

Two-year ban given for dangerous driving
AN ENNISCORTHY motorist who was involved in a collision with another car on a dangerous bend outside Enniscorthy town in 2010, was put off the road for two years, and fined €1,000, at the District Court this week.

A MAN who was 'so drunk he was unable to walk properly' was fined €200.
Radon gas problem is highlighted in survey
ONE ENNISCORTHY house has been found to have nine times the acceptable level of the cancer causing gas radon. And the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) has found the one in every five Wexford homes tested exceeded the recommended level of the gas.
Pub fined for punk concert
A PUNK ROCK concert and some late-night drinking at the Corner House in Rathnure led to court proceedings against the licensees, Michael and Nancy Byrne, last week. Judge Gerard Haughton looked at the pub's record and warned them not to break the rules again or they would face the loss of the licence.

AN ADAMSTOWN MAN accused of possession of a knife intends to contest the charge fully, his solicitor told the District Court last week.
Wood art class
ARTIST and sculptor Paddy Darigan has been called in to provide an intriguing new course at the adult learning centre in Bunclody. From Monday, February 20, the art room in the centre will resound to the noise of chisels on timber as the tutor from Wexford offers an Introduction to Woodcraft course.
