MONAGEER
SCHOOL NOTES
The Parent/toddler group is up and running again and meets every Friday from 1.30 p.m to 2.45 pm. in the school. This is open to all preschool children.
Monageer National School are now operating a Twitter account where up to date announcements can be found – the username is Monageerns.
Third, fourth, fifth and sixth class have returned to Tin whistle lessons on Wednesday with Padraig.
Our Comenius project continues with third and fifth class cooking during the week. Fifth and sixth class have been recording the weather along with our partner schools in England, Spain, Poland and Turkey.
Our work in the Comenius project alongside our Partner schools can be found on the blog page Ourplaceinspace2011.blogspot.com. Alternatively if you are in the school we have a huge amount of work on display on our Comenius notice boards.
Fr. Cosgrave will be holding a Confirmation meeting in the school on February 1st at 7.30 p.m. Parents of all children making their Confirmation should attend.
GAA LOTTO
There was no winner of the lotto which now stands at €7,200 - the numbers drawn were 3,11,14,15 match 3 winners - share in €160 were Niamh O'loughlin, John & James Roben - the next draw is on Tuesday 24th January in the New Clubhouse at 9.30pm
CAMOGIE NEWS
The Camogie Club AGM was held on 13th January 2012. The following people were elected as officers: Chairperson: Padraig Sinnott Secretary: Emma Lupton Treasurer: Antoinette Murphy. President: Martina Murphy Vice President: Josie Gahan Child Protection Officer: Niamh O'loughlin.
Indoor camogie training for U12 & U14 is on Tuesday night from 7 to 8pm in Monageer Parish Hall.training for Intermediate Camogie & Ladies football starts Friday 27th January in Monageer GAA grounds from 7 to 8pm.
BAPTISM
Congratulations to Andrew and Dawn [nee Murphy] Thomas whose son Dylan was baptised in Monageer Church on 18th December by Fr Cosgrave PP. We wish them all the best for the future.
SYMPATHY
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Peter Ryan and Tess Rigley whose sister Anne Dunbar [nee Ryan], London and formerly Killabeg died on 10th December aged 71. The funeral mass was celebrated in London and burial was there also.
To Kathleen Redmond,crane whose father Timothy [Tim] Brogan Finchogue [also brother in law of Nan Fenlon, Ballymurtagh] who died on 16th December, aged 86. The requiem mass was in st senans church, templeshannon with burial in St Mary's cemetery, Enniscorthy.
To the family of Lelia Hill, Ballysimon, who died on 12th January aged 87. The requiem mass was celebrated in Monageer church and the burial took place in Monamolin.
To Anne Marie Power[nee Fenlon] Ballymotey whose aunt Josephine Green, Barntown died on 14th January, aged 90. The funeral mass and burial took place in Barntown.
To Elaine Donohoe, Ballysimon whose father Peter Donegan, Courtown died on 15th January aged 71. The funeral rites took place in Riverchapel. R I P.

SACRAMENT PREPARATION
Confirmation this year will be celebrated on Sunday April, 22 at 10am with 29 young parishioners to be confirmed. [Boolavogue will have its own confirmation on the same day in the afternoon].
A new parish programme of preparation for parents and those to be confirmed will begin in the school on Wednesday 1st February at 7.30pm with a meeting of the parents. On a Sunday after that an Enrolment Mass will be celebrated. Then there will be four meeting with the young people in the school or parish hall , each led by parents. One similar meeting will be held after Confirmation.
FIRST COMMUNION
This will be celebrated on Saturday 19th May at 11am with 16 young parishioners taking this important step forward on their Christian Journey. The Parish Programme of preparation will begin with dith first of four special masses in the church on Sunday 5th February, at 10am.
PARISH COMMITTEE MEETING
This will take place on Thursday 2nd February, at 7.30 pm in the Parochial House.
BLESSING OF THROATS
Friday is St Blaise's day - the blessing of the throats will be after 9.30am and at 6.30pm on friday evening.

A Parish Committee Meeting is on Thursday night in the parochial house at 7.30pm
TIDY TOWNS
The committee meeting this is on Wednesday week 8th February at 8pm in the Hall.
