MEMBERS of Gorey Youth Needs were delighted last week to be able to support a cause that is close their hearts.

The group of friends last week handed over a cheque for an impressive €1,290 to Console, a charity which helps support those affected by suicide.

The youngsters have all known someone, either family or friend, who died by suicide.

They undertook a sponsored silence, and also sold various Console gifts, including wristbands, keyrings and magnets, in Gorey Shopping Centre.

Among those involved in the fundraisers were Jennifer Doyle, Kara Moore, Hayley Godkin, Emma Doran, and Caitriona Kelly, who are all members of Gorey Youth Needs Group and students at Gorey Community School.

They thanked everyone who supported their efforts, especially Gorey Shopping Centre manager Niamh O'byrne for allowing them to hold the sale in the centre.

The cheque was accepted by Ciaran Austin and Ciaran Tighe, who invited them to visit the Console Helpline Centre.
