HALL COMMITTEE

The Spellman Hall Committee would like to congratulate Fr. Joseph Fleming and Alex Morahan for their wonderful work in achieving leader funds. The committee would like to announce that they have been successful in the application for leader funds form Carlow County Development Partnership for hall renovation, 75 per cent of €102,797.50 have been granted for this worthy project. Feasibility study for the strategy document which acquired the funds was carried out at Kildavin Country Market by Alex last summer and the commitment of Fr. Fleming for community enhancing project is deeply appreciated.

SYMPATHY

The village of Clonegal and Kildavin were saddened to hear of the death of the late Jim (Sherlock) Sheil, Valley View, Clonegal, who died suddenly on Thursday, February 18 at the age of 55. In his younger days, Jim was a keen sportsman, winning County Junior Championship medals with the local Clonegal Rapareers. Jim was always great for supporting charities: back in 2005 he cycled from Ardattin to Clonegal to help raise money for Alzheimer's.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Frances; daughters Caroline and Bernie, son John and the late Jemma; brother Stephen, sisters Kathleen and Chris, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, son-in-law William, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The size of the cortege was proof of this popularity. Removal from McCrea's Funeral Home, Carnew, to St. Brigid's Church Clonegal on Saturday, February 20 received by Fr. Fleming PP. Funeral mass took place on Sunday and followed by Interment in Clonegal New Cemetery where he was laid to rest with his daughter Jemma.

LOTTO DRAW

The latest Kildavin/ Clonegal GAA Lotto draw was held in Osborne's Lounge on Sunday, February 28. There was no winner for the jackpot of €10,000. Numbers drawn were 5, 8, 14 and 27. Winners that matched three were John Murphy, Michael Balfe and Tracker all receiving €75 each.

Seller's prize was Frances Whelan receiving €50. Winners of the attendance draw were Pat Sinnott, Nicola Gray and Serena Redmond.

Next draw will take place in Conway's Pub Kildavin on Sunday, March 14 with a jackpot of €10,000 and reserve jackpot of €2,600.
