SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Jack Redmond, Umrigar, who died during the week and was buried on Wednesday.

Sympathy to the family and relatives of Mick Mulhall, Tomacork, who died during the week and was buried on Friday in Tomacork cemetry.

Sympathy to Billy Morrissey, Raheengraney, his family and relatives on the death of his mother Maura during the week.

21ST BIRTHDAY

VARIETY NIGHT

A variety night of drama will be held in St. Brigid's Hall, Carnew on this Thursday March 4 at 8 p.m. by the tranisition year students and home first project. Admission is €6.

ENGAGEMENT

Congratulations to Paul Massey, Croneyhorn and Mellissa Austin, Coollattin Road on their recent engagement.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

The world day of prayer will take place on this Friday March 5 at 4 p.m. in Carnew Community Care, teas will be served at 3.30 p.m. The service this year is by the women of Cameroon in Africa. All men and women are welcome.

FASHION SHOW

A fashion show will take place on March 11 in The Millrace Hotel, Bunclody at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased after both masses on March 6 and 7, and there will be no tickets available at the door on the night. All proceeds go towards Ballyroebuck N.S. extension.

SENIOR SCOR

A good crowd attended the senior scor in Roundwood on Saturday night, with a small number of clubs participating. Liam O'Loughlin was MC for the night and congratulated everyone involved and everyone for helping out.

The following were winners on the night: solo singing -Carnew (Brendan Grant); Recitiation - Carnew (Ettie Kilbride); Ballad group - Carnew (Laura Levingstone, Ericka Kennedy, Emma Culkin, Christine Kinsella and Brendan Grant); Novelty act - Carnew (cast of James Doran, Tom Culkin, John O'Hara, John O'Sullivan, Din Doran, Mick Sinnott, Thomas Darcy and Aoife Doran); Question team - Avondale; Set dancing - An Tochar.

Congratulations and well done to all who now represent Wicklow in the semi final this Saturday March 6 in St. Marion's Hall, Birr, Co. Offaly at 5 p.m.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY

The St. Patricks Day parade is taking place in Carnew on Wednesday March 17 at 2 p.m., starting from Aughrim road and finishing at Carnew Mart.

Entrants will be asked to be in position early on the day and if you have not filled out an application form please do so now. Application forms must be in for Wednesday March 10 and are available from Classic Cut, Shelaine's, Expressions, and Candy's.

Please note that diversions will be in place on the day. There will be prizes awarded on the day, for Best Float, Best Novelty, Best dressed Spectator, best dressed Toddler, best dressed St Patrick. Enquires to 087-2917698.

FUN QUIZ FINAL

Carnew one step ahead ran monthly fun quizzes from The King of Carnew festival weekend last July until January with teams going through to final. The final was held on Friday February 26 and a great night was had with 10 teams turning up for final.

Victors Vultures were favourites to win on the night but was trailing in 3rd place until the 6th round where it was very close scoring between them, The Has Behans and The X Men.

The last round saw a tiebreak between The Has Behans and Victors Vultures. With The Has Behans Scoring 7 out of 10 and taking 1st place and winning €100 Victors Vultures scored 5 out of 10.

All was not lost for Victors Vultures, as part of the quiz nights there was a take your pick draw monthly also and the final night saw €100 up for grabs with 5 envelops. This went to the last envelope remaining and Victors Vultures team member Vinny Hall was the lucky ticket holder to win himself €100.

Other winners on the night were: Sarah Donohoe winning a Car Wash at Candy's. Treasa Doyle winning €5. Gina O Riley winning €8. With Brenda Walker picking the Booby Prize.
