COMMUNITY GAMES

Auditions for Bree-Davidstown Variety group will take place in Bree Hall this Thursday evening at 6pm. Candidates will be expected to sing/dance/play an instrument or act. Anyone under 16 on July 31 2010 from the parish of Bree or Davidstown is welcome to come along.

BREE AC

Congratulations to all athletes who took part in the Leinster Indoor Championship in Nenagh last weekend. It proved to be a very successful championships with Bree AC taking home a huge number of medals. Full details next week. The Leinster Senior 10km Road Race will take place in Galbally on Sunday, March 21 at 2pm. This forms part of the Club's 40th year celebrations.

COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL

Galbally Community Playschool is now taking enrolments for September 2010. Parents can avail of free preschool places for children under the ECCE scheme and the subvention scheme is also in place. All the staff are qualified in childcare and first aid and the playschool provides a safe, caring and enjoyable environment which promotes and provides for all areas of a child's development. The playschool is a member of the IPPA (Irish Preschools and Playgroups Association) and is inspected and approved by the Health Service Executive. If you would like to enrol your child, please contact 0863919416 or call in to the playschool located in Galbally NS during opening hours (Monday to Friday from 9.25 to 12.25).

PTAA QUIZZES

The Diocesan Finals of the PTAA quizzes will take place in Bree Community Centre this Sunday, March 7, with the U13 quiz at 2 pm followed by the U16 quiz at 3.15 pm. Any young pioneer under 16 on January 1 can take part. More information from Eddie Dunne at 053 9247882.

GALBALLY VINTAGE RUN

Please keep the last Sunday of May free in your diary for the vintage tractor run, which is being organised once again this year. Your support would be very much appreciated on the day. A small committee will be organised in the coming weeks to ensure the smooth running of the day. For further information and details please contact Paddy Fortune.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathies are expressed to the son, daughters, family and friends of Nancy Keeley, Knocknagross, who died on Thursday last. She was interred in Bree Cemetery after Mass on Saturday.

CELTIC ROOTS CONCERT

Celtic Roots hold their annual 'St Patrick's Day' Full Irish Concert followed by a Ceili in the Mill Race Hotel in Bunclody on Wednesday, March 17. Tickets at €10 can be reserved at the Hotel or at the door on the night. Some members of the group will be involved in both the Bunclody and Enniscorthy St Patrick Day Parades. The group starts back in Treacy's Hotel on Tuesday, March 16.

U14 SKITTLES

Any persons who are interested in trying out for the Bree/Davidstown Community Games U14 Skittles Team is asked to please contact David Minogue at 087 7619555 before Friday, March 12. To be eligible, players should be over 10 yrs of age and under 14 on July 31 2010.

GAA NOTES

The Ballyhogue Senior and Junior footballers have recommenced training on Tuesday and Friday evenings under the management of John Murphy and PJ Kennedy respectively. The floodlights are being well used as former Wexford Goalkeeper, John Cooper, directs proceedings. In the championship draw Ballyhogue have got County Champs Horeswood, Fethard and near neighbours, Taghmon. Meanwhile, in the league, Ballyhogue's first outing is away on Sunday March 7 against Clongeen. This will be followed by a home game, under lights, on Friday, March 12 against Horeswood.

BREE ICA

Bree ICA Guild held its monthly meeting recently. The speakers on the night were Mary Curtis who spoke on the colours for the scarves to be worn at the centenary celebrations. The second speaker, Ann, showed a display of home made handbags from the company bintybag.com. The competition for the next meeting is for the 'nicest 6 daffodils'. The next guild meeting will be on March 16. Ladies are also reminded that Cookery Classes are in the Community Centre on Friday nights March 12, 19 and 26 at 8 pm.

BRI BEAG

Bri Beag – Bree Community Childcare Committee are busy putting the final plans and arrangements in place for the opening of the new Childcare Facility in Bree. A new brochure on the facility and the services offered, fees etc. is now available from local shops, Bree Parish Office and Bree Post Office.
