CARDS
The weekly "30" Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 10thfebruary at 9.00 pm. There is €220.00 in prize money on offer each week. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on the night will be: Mary Delaney, Sheelagh Delaney and Rosie Mcevoy. Catering for the following Friday 17thfebruary will be: Catherine Walsh, Eileen J Walsh, Eileen N Walsh and Denise Carthy Walsh. Proceeds will be going to the Parish Funds.
Card Winners on Friday 27th January were: Matt O'neill, Pat Byrne, Nick Doyle, Andy Reville, Sean Cullen, Johnny Nolan, Phil Jackman, Mick Kelly, John Furlong, Jim Wickham, Ann Lawlor and Kathleen Whelan.
ADAMSTOWN LOTTO
Winning numbers were 1, 9, 10 and 12. There was no jackpot winner. There were three match three winners who were as follows: Betty White, Ballagh; Brid Bradley, Barracks Road and Joe Mooney, Knockreigh. The next draw is worth €6,700.00 and the seller of the winning ticket will receive €670.00. The next draw will take place in Brad Og, Adamstown, on Monday 13thfebruary. All proceeds go to Adamstown FC, Adamstown GAA and The Parish Committee.
ICA GUILD
A meeting of Adamstown ICA Guild will take place in the Community Centre on Wednesday night 8th February at 8.00 pm. All members please attend. New members are very welcome.
COMMUNITY ALERT
Adamstown Community Alert are holding a meeting in the Community Centre on Tuesday 14th February at 8.30 pm. Margaret Quinn Community Organiser and Garda Paul Ryan will attend to answer any questions that may arise from the meeting. We would like to see a large attendance at this meeting, as this organization is aimed to protecting the most vulnerable in our society and their property.
GAA NEWS
Adamstown GAA will hold their registration night for Adults and Underage Players on 17th February in Adamstown Community Centre from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
To celebrate our 125th anniversary and to present Medals to the Hurlers who won the County Intermediate Championship, we will be holding our Dinner Dance in the Stanville Lodge Hotel on the 25th February. Tickets are €25.00 each and available from all Committee Members.
A Mass for all deceased members of St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club will be held in Adamstown Church at 7.30 pm on Saturday 24th March 2012. Following the Mass, there will be a photographic exhibition to commemorate and celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Club. If anyone has old photographs of former teams, club members etc, it would be greatly appreciated if you could contact Joan Furlong at 087 6381223 or Helen Furlong at 086 3454036. Please note that copies will be taken and originals returned as soon as possible.
CAMOGIE CLUB
The AGM was held on 15th January and the following were elected: Chairperson Geraldine Doyle, Secretary Carol Mernagh, and Treasurer Louise Power.
Training will commence 21st of February from 5.30 till 6.30pm on a Tuesday evening in Adamstown for the u10 and u12 girls anyone who is interested please turn up on the night and registration will also take place on the night as girls have to be registered to play with county before 1st March.
The Camogie and Football club are coming together for a Race night to be held in Cullen's on 30th March we would be very grateful for any help in regards to this night both clubs are having a meeting in the community centre Adamstown next Thursday 9th February at 7.30pm anyone who is a member of either clubs and anyone else who would like to help out please turn up on the night or contact Karen Scallan on 0867355198 or Carol Mernagh on 087 9189985.
LADIES FOOTBALL AGM
Adamstown Ladies Football held their AGM on 28th January in Newbawn Hall. The following were elected for the coming year Secretary Karen Scallan, Treasurer Michelle O'brien, Assistant Treasurer Bridget Kent, Registrar Catriona Mccabe, Child Officer Carol Mernagh, County Board Reps Karen Scallan, Ellen Delaney, Elaine Colfer, Pearl White, Michelle O'brien, Ted Bradley, Bridget Kent. We were unable to fill the postion of Chairperson so there will be another meeting held soon to appoint chairperson.
Mentors: U10 Karen Scallan, U12 Sean Furlong, Elaine Colfer, Mag Doyle and Carol Mernagh, U14 Ted Bradley, Michelle O'brien, Donna Miskella, No U16 team this year due to lack of numbers, Minor Sandra Thorpe. Senior team - as of date we have no manager or trainer for our Senior team. If anyone is interested please contact Karen Scallan, Secretary.
We would like to thank all parents, officals, mentors, for all your help last year, we also would like to thank anyone who contributed to the club through sponsership, making sandwichs, fundraising and collecting scrap. We look forward to welcoming you back for the 2012 season, we especially would like to thank all the players from U10 up to Senior level. Training will be starting back soon for all age groups.
Adamstown Ladies Football and Camogie Fundraiser Adamstown Camogie and Adamstown Ladies Football are coming together to hold a Race Night. It will be in Cullen's Pub Adamstown on the 30th March so put it in your diary. There will be a meeting on Thursday 9th February in Adamstown Community Centre at 7.30pm to discuss the details. We hope to see everyone there from the camogie and football clubs.
St Mary's Girls: Congratulations to Katie White and Ellen O'brien, Newbawn who were on the St Mary's Junior C Football team who beat Castleknock of Dublin5-5 to 3-3 to become Leinster Champions. They are now through to the All Ireland Junior C Semi-final. They both play for Adamstown Ladies Football Club. We wish them the best of luck in the semifinal.
