MASS AT WELL The mass at St Abban's Well will take place on Sunday 29th August at 11am (Weather Permitting), with the kind permission of the Doyle Family, Glenour. As this is the 175th Anniversary of St Abbans Church, parishioners might like to inform other members of their family living elsewhere who are very welcome to attend
CARDS
The weekly "30" Card Game continues in the Community Centre on Friday 27th August at 9pm. There is €220 in prize money on offer each night. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Friday 27th August will be: Breda Cummins, Bernie Hickey, Evelyn O'Gorman and Ann O'Gorman, Kellystown. Catering the following Friday 3rd September will be: Cathy O'Gorman, Bridget O'Gorman, Ann Stafford, Kay Whelan and Agnes Whelan, Kellystown. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.
ATHLETIC CLUB
Adamstown Athletic Club are holding their 4th Annual Open Cross Country in Adamstown on Sunday 19th September 2010 at 12.00 noon, there will be races for Boys & Girls U9, U10, U11, U13, U15, U17, Senior Ladies and Senior Men, individual and team prizes. All underage athletes must register on the day by 11.45 a.m., for more details contact Ann O'Gorman 087 7434470. Club training will start back on Thursday 26th August at 6.15, All are welcome.
MASS ROCK CARRIGBYRNE
Annual Mass at the Rock Lane, Raheennacloonagh at the butt of Carrigbyrne Rock will take place on Sunday August 29th at 6pm.

HARVEST FESTIVAL NEWS
Arrangements for the 9th Annual Adamstown Harvest Festival on Sunday 12th September at Dick & Bessie Fortune's Farm in Doonooney are at an advanced stage. The organising committee plan to have a vintage working day in conjunction with all the usual vintage ploughing classes and a steam engine farm threshing in the mid afternoon.
The working day will consist of an exhibition of horse ploughing, tilling ans sowing the crop like it was done many years ago. Other attractions planned are Irish Dancing, Tug-of-War, making griddle bread, Dolly's butter making, a dong show, many other family fun events, plus many other stalls and side-shows. All ploughing competitors are requested to be on site at 11.30am, as ploughing will start at 12noon sharp.
The committee is actively looking for sponsorship which will be very much appreciated. The charities to benefit this year are: Sr Helen Delaney, the Hope Centre and Raheen Day Care Centre. The next meeting is planned for Thursday 2nd September at 9pm.
COMMUNITY ALERT
A community alert meeting will take place tonight (Wednesday 25th) in the Community Centre at 8.30pm. All committee members please attend and all new members are welcome to attend.
SCHOOL RE-OPENS
The news all children have been waiting for - Adamstown National School reopens on Monday 30th August at 9.20am. We welcome the new Junior Infants and extend good wishes to the outgoing 6th class.
Following extensive work by way of the Summer Scheme the whole school should be a much warmer and comfortable place for our children to be taught in.
PAT CARDEN RIP
Our sympathy is extended to the relations and friends in the Parish of Pat Carden, Ballyenvary, Davidstown. His funeral mass took place on Wednesday 18th August in Davidstown Church. He was laid to reside beside his late wife Elizabeth (nee Lawlor, Knockreigh, Adamstown) in Davidstown Cemetery. May He Rest In Peace.
