CARDS

The weekly 30 Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday March 5 at 9 p.m. There is €220 in prize money on offer each night. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Friday will be Margaret Cashe, Callie Doyle, Gretti Mooney, Marie Mooney and Angela Furlong. Proceeds go to Parish Funds.

MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Parents/Guardians who wish to put their child's name down to start at Montessori in September 2010 are now invited to do same. The school caters for children aged 3-5+ years and operates Monday-Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Also a meeting will be held in the Community Centre on Wednesday March 3 at 8 p.m. for Parents/ Guardians of Children eligible for the free pre-school year September 2010 to June 2011. The birth dates for eligibility are February 2, 2006 to June 30, 2007. For further information contact Jacqui on 086 8601526.

VINTAGE CLUB

The Shamrock Vintage Club will hold its Pat Byrne Annual Road Run on Easter Sunday April 4. Full details will follow next week.

COMMUNITY ALERT

A Community Alert meeting will be held on Thursday night March 11 at 8 p.m. There is a very important agenda, so all members are asked to attend.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT

If you have child starting school in Adamstown National School in September 2010, please call to the school for an enrolment form or phone 053 9240694 to have one posted out to you. A Baptismal Certificate is required.

NEW SHOW CHAIRMAN

Some 28 members attend the Annual General Meeting of Adamstown Show Committee held in the centre on Thursday February 18.

At the election of officers for the coming year, James Stephenson, Raheen was elected the new Chairman, ViceChairman Terry McDonald, Hon. Secretary Kay McCabe, Joint Treasurenrs Eddie Roche and Patrice Byrne, PRO Eunan Flood. All members present agreed to serve on the committee.

This years show will take place on Saturday July 3. Best wishes are extended to the show for a successful year.

SCHOOLBOYS SOCCER

Well done to the Adamstown U12 Division 4 team who won 3-1 at home to Castledockrell. The team was: Andrew Thorpe, Andrew French, Kamil Luskaqwwicq, Vlad Komarstuch, Harry Cosgrave, Sean Barden, Sebastial Iovon, Evan Murphy, Daire Bolger, Padriag Kavanagh, Aaron O'Brien, James O'Shea and Sean Hynes.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Fr. Tom McGrath, P.P. Newbawn, on the death of his sister Mrs Breda Fitzgerald, Ramsgrange, who died during the week.

Sympathy is extended to Terry McDonald and family, The Leap, on the death of his aunt, Sister Ambrose Murphy, Sister of the Assumption, Balinahinch, Co Down, who died on Thursday February 18 in her 99th year.

Sympathy is extended to Mary O'Reilly and family, Tomgarrow, on the death of her brother-in-law Willie (William) Boggan, Rathaspeck. His funeral mass took place on Thursday February 25 in Bride Street Church with burial afterwards in Crosstown Cemetery.

Pray for Richard Hyland who died in England, husband of Annie Furlong formally on Oldcourt, Adamstown. May They Rest in Peace..

CONFIRMATION

Fifth and sixth class from Scoil Naomh Abbain, Adamstown, will be receiving the sacrament of Confirmation tomorrow Thursday March 4 in St Abban's Church at 11 a.m. A word of thanks to their teacher Ms Marie Reddy for her work with preparing the children.
