SOMETIMES ALL you need to drag yourself out of the doldrums is a mad conversation with someone who's a bit cracked. There's nothing like talking to someone a bit madder than yourself to cheer you up no end. I've been feeling a bit 'January-ish', bit sorry for myself, bit fed up. THE Three-cornered Garlic doesn't normally flower until April but this year a few hardy individuals are in bloom already together with daffodils, snowdrops, crocuses and other spring bulbs. Looking like a white Bluebell, the Three-cornered Garlic has suffered a bit of an identity crisis. For a long time it was known as the Three-cornered Leek; now its preferred name is the Three-cornered Garlic. Technically it is an onion.

On January 19 a Dominican colleague of mine died in a Dublin hospital. Fr Pat ' Tom' Mcinerney OP had been in hospital almost continuously since August. The hospital is near where I live I so managed to call to him most days.

FINAL Fantasy XIII-2'S predecessor got some serious heat for funneling players down corridors on a 20-hour trip through the mundane, not to mention its rigid saving system and a range of other fundamental flaws.
