				<description>&lt;P&gt;THEY may not have dressed up in Sergeant Pepper uniforms but the performers at Beatlemania last week certainly sounded the part. The attendance at the Athenaeum fundraiser in the Riverside Park had more than their money's worth as the Fab Four directed by Maurice McCarthy became the Scintillating Seven with the addition of a brass section.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

					&lt;P&gt;THE CARNEW Rose will be announced at an event in Jim Byrne's Pub this Thursday night, July 8. The Rose will then officially open the second annual Carnew Festival which runs until Sunday evening.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Five contenders were interviewed in Sinnott's Pub last Saturday night, with compere Liam Fallong and Joe Peters acting as judges.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;Those contenting for the title are: Rochelle O'Brien, representing The Lodge; Collette Byrne, representing Sinnott's; Linda Comiskey, representing Candy's; Charly O'Reilly, representing McCrea's; and Danielle Doran, representing Carnew Enterprise Centre.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;Carnew One Step Ahead is organising the five-day festival and is urging everyone to turn out for a variety of events which includes a pub talent competition over five nights in Sinnott's, Jim Byrne's, McCrea's , The Lodge and the Pint Depot.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;The carnival funfair will run from Thursday evening onwards beside the Pint Depot.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;On Thursday, there will be an exhibition match of indoor bowling in Carnew Community Care at 2 p.m.; and one hour walks are organised for Thursday and Friday from Carnew Enterprise Centre at 2.30 p.m.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;On Friday, there's a car treasure hunt from Candy's at 7 p.m. Entry is &#164;10 per car.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;On Saturday, an indoor market takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., beside the Post Office; and there's a trip to the House of Stories at Raheen with the bus leaving the church at 10 a.m. There will be story telling for the Under 10s in the Market House throughout the day, crazy soccer and kids five a side games in the soccer grounds; busking on Main Street; a bar persons' race on Main Street from 6 to 7 p.m.; a Hawaiian themed teenage disco in C2, from 9 p.m. to midnight.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;On Sunday, there will be a puppet show, face painting, art and crafts in Colaiste Bhride from 2.30 p.m. and a tractor pull challenge at 7 p.m. at the Mart. The five pubs will enter a team of ten people to pull a tractor over a measured course. Teams from outside Carnew are being challenged to take part. 					&lt;P&gt;PREPARATIONS ARE under way to bring Enniscorthy back to the 1950s for a weekend. The 'Riverside Jump' festival will bring the rock sounds of the decade to The Bailey for three days &#x2013; Friday, July 16.to Sunday, July 18. And the music will be backed up by the vehicles of the time.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Eamonn Doyle and his fellow enthusiasts at 'Rock Pop Boogie' reckon that their summertime festival is unique on the Irish scene. The blend of rock 'n roll and rockabilly with classic cars and motorbikes will certainly make for quite a spectacle.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;The organisers promise nine live acts and five DJs over the weekend, including some of the best bands from Ireland, the UK and continental Europe. The main attraction will be the Saturday, July 17 programme when amarquee will be erected in the main car park at The Bailey.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;The mega tent will accommodate seven bands, a line up that features Aces Wild from Dublin and the Sabrejets from Belfast, along with British visitors Bill Fadden &amp;amp; The Rhythm Busters and The Houserockers. They will be mixing it with internationally renowned acts Charlie Hightone &amp;amp; The Rockits from Spain, The Barnshakers from Finland and Wildfire Willie &amp;amp; The Ramblers from Sweden. Indoors, the DJ line up features Gerry Robinson, Oona Fortune, Kit Kola, H-Bomb Gav and Lew Boogie.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;Throughout the festival, the Old Barracks will have a host of classic American cars and bikes on display, with a colourful car cruise through the streets of Enniscorthy on the Saturday evening.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.tickets.ie and the price covering admission on all 3 days is &#164;40 including booking fee. Car owners who want to take part and attend the gigs will get entry for &#164;20 for driver and &#164;30 for one passenger. 					&lt;P&gt;IT'S A BIG weekend in Courtown this weekend as the Courtown Maritime Festival takes place. There are lots of fun free activities organised for Saturday, July 10, and the traditional Sea Sunday celebrations take place on July 11.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;A massive sandcastle competition will take place on the main beach on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry forms and conditions can be collected from Flanagan's Wharf.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;A Crazy Crazy Golf Competition will be held at Brown's Golf Course between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. You can register beforehand.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;The Irish Seal Sanctuary will have an information kiosk on the bandstand from noon to 4 p.m. There will also be facepainting at the bandstand at the same time. Gorey Pipe Band will play on the bandstand from 3.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;A Courtown Sailing Club sailing race can be viewed in Courtown bay from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A fishing competition will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can register at Courtown Angling Centre at 3 p.m. or call Joe on (087) 6613145.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;On Saturday, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. there will be a Mega Children's Open Air Disco at the Seafront Stage with Sounds Electric. Special cartoon guests will pay a visit and there will be prizes galore. Vehicular access to the pier will be restricted during the disco. There will be music in the local pubs, hotels etc. from 8 p.m. onwards.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;The Sea Sunday celebrations take place on Sunday, July 11. Courtown Rowing club will be running its first ever regatta/race on at 11 a.m. There will be two races: mens and ladies, both in East Coast Skiffs. Each race will involve a five mile trip along the coast, racing north from the Harbour towards Kiltennel/Tara Cove. Rowing clubs from all around the South East will be taking part. This will be followd by the Blessing of the Boats at 2.30 p.m. and the RNLI charity raft race at 4 p.m.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;P&gt;All are welcome to come and join in what promises to be a great family weekend in Courtown. Remember all events are free.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;br/&gt;</description>

					&lt;P&gt;THE LINE UP for this year's Gorey Market House Craft and Design Festival has been unveiled. The festival will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend and will include a craft exhibit, photograph exhibitions, live music, a farmer's market and family fun.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;It's hoped that, through the festival, Gorey can develop the Market House as a &lt;br/&gt;  brand for quality craft and design. The festival aims to celebrate Gorey's &lt;br/&gt;  rich heritage as a market town, where people came to sell their wares.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The organising committee, chaired by Councillor Robert Ireton, have put &lt;br/&gt;  together a full programme of activities from Thursday, July 29 to Sunday, &lt;br/&gt;  August 1.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;As well as celebrating Gorey's heritage, the festival will have strong &lt;br/&gt;  contemporary theme, with a craft and design showcase taking place in the &lt;br/&gt;  magnificent new Gorey Court building, at the Civic Square.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The craft element of the festival will continue with the craft trail hosted by &lt;br/&gt;  local businesses on The Avenue, Main Street and Esmonde Street, which will &lt;br/&gt;  also showcase the work of well established artists.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The nominated charity for the festival is St. Aidan's Services.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The Craft and Design Showcase Exhibition will open at the new Gorey Court &lt;br/&gt;  House in the Civic Square from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 29. &lt;br/&gt;  Artist and curator Kathleen Delaney has brought together a range of &lt;br/&gt;  exhibitors from Wexford and further afield. The show will feature work from &lt;br/&gt;  artists in different disciplines from glass to textile, furniture design to &lt;br/&gt;  jewellery, and ceramics.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;On Friday, the Press Photographers of Ireland Exhibition will open at Gorey &lt;br/&gt;  Shopping Centre at 6 p.m&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Gorey Art Circle will open its exhibition at 8 p.m. in Christ Church, and the &lt;br/&gt;  exhibit will remain open for the week.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;A photographic exhibition 'Gorey Then and Now' will open in the Market House &lt;br/&gt;  at 8 p.m.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Local bands and artists are performing on the Festival Stage on Main Street &lt;br/&gt;  over the three nights of the festival, with a mix of music and styles that &lt;br/&gt;  will have the street rocking.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, the Drinagh Mummers will perform on Gorey's &lt;br/&gt;  Main Street. An Irish night with traditional music and dance will begin at 8 &lt;br/&gt;  p.m. Ceol Amore will perform on the Main Street from 9 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;On Saturday, July 31, there's the children's fun afternoon in the Civic Square &lt;br/&gt;  from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a magic mix of entertainment including a fancy &lt;br/&gt;  dress parade, face painting, Giggles The Clown, storytelling, and much, much &lt;br/&gt;  more. The afternoon will finish off with 'Your Tea At The Square' from 5 to &lt;br/&gt;  7 p.m.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;There's music on the Main Street on Saturday, with Lynda Cullen and her band &lt;br/&gt;  on stage from 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.; Cathal 'Elvis' Byrne is on stage from &lt;br/&gt;  8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and the Tasmanian Dust Devils are on stage from 10.15 &lt;br/&gt;  p.m. to 11.30 p.m.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;On Sunday, August 1, there's a Farmer's Market on Main Street, with a mini &lt;br/&gt;  farm and farm machinery, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m and music with Tommy Carroll. &lt;br/&gt;  In Gorey Skate Park, the Boarderco Goodtimes Tour will pay a visit from 3 &lt;br/&gt;  p.m. to 10 p.m. for a skate session, music and a barbeque.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;On Sunday evening, new North Wexford band Rumours of a Rift will play from 6 &lt;br/&gt;  p.m. to 7.15 p.m.; Jimi Cullen and The Jobless are on stage from 7.30 p.m. &lt;br/&gt;  to 9 p.m.; and an Imelda May Tribute Act is on stage from 9.15 p.m.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;</description>
