Curtain up on Kilmuckridge festival

THE CURTAIN RISES on the 52nd Kilmuckridge Drama Festival in the Kilmuckridge Memorial Hall from Friday, February 26 to March 6.

The festival will be opened by Mr. Aidan Reidy who is the chairman of the ADCI.

The adjudicator this year is Anne Moloney O' Driscoll ADA who has adjudicated at festivals for the past 20 years and her productions of 'Ring Round the Moon' by Anouilh and 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle' by Brecht won the All Ireland Esso Trophy.

The chairman of the festival Mr. Liam Buttle and his entire committee are working very hard to put the finishing touches on the festival which promises to bring you nine nights of fantastic entertainment.

The Festival also runs a children's art competition for the children of both Kilmuckridge and Monamolin National and their works will be exhibited in the hall during the festival. The festival committee sent their thanks to the teachers and the children for their hard work. The winners will be awarded their prizes during the festival.

The shows begin nightly at 8 p.m. No bookings are being taken as tickets are available at the door, so come early to avoid disappointment. Admission is €10 for adults and €5 for children. Patrons' tickets can also be purchased at the door at €50 for the nine nights. The line up is as follows:

Friday, February 26: Kilmuckridge Drama Group with 'Canaries' by Bernard Farrell. Saturday, February 27: Tinahely Drama Group with Sebastian Barry's 'White Woman Street.' Sunday, February 28: Ballyduff Drama Group with 'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck. Monday, March 1: Kilrush Drama Group's with 'On Raftery's Hill' by Marina Carr. Tuesday, March 2: Bunclody Kilmyshall Drama Group with 'Death of a Salesman' by Arthur Miller. Wednesday, March 3: Ballycogley Players with Eclipsed' by Patricia Burke Brogan, Thursday, March 4: Ferns Dramatic Society with Brian Friel's 'Translations' Friday, March 5: Kilmeen Drama Group 'King of the Castle' by Eugene McCabe, Saturday, March 6: Conna Drama Group with 'Sive' by John B Keane.
