SENIOR GARDAI are this week re-assuring people that notorious rapist Larry Murphy has not been to County Wexford, despite widespread reports at the weekend that he had been seen at locations from Castletown through to Blackwater and Curracloe. Both Superintendent Peter Finn in Enniscorthy and Superintendent Maura Lernihan in Gorey have said there is no truth to the reported sightings, with Supt Lernihan adding that Murphy (pictured right) has at all times been under the supervision of the Sex Offenders Management and Intelligence Unit, based in Dublin.

Runners sweat it out in Oylegate half marathon

COMPETITORS in the Fastway Couriers Oylegate half marathon had to sweat it out in the best of summer sunshine at the weekend. Participants in the tough 13 mile test and the ten kilometre fun run drank 1,100 bottles of water in Sunday's heat as they tackled a tough course.

Glorious 22 gold medals secured

WEEKEND TWO of the HSE Community Games national finals took place from August 13-15, with Wexford having a great weekend. Involved in eight different activities, the children brought home medals from almost all of these events. What a record.
